Lift

“Lift,” directed by F. Gary Gray, emerges as a forgettable and formulaic action film with a heist plot. The star-studded cast, led by Kevin Hart, fails to bring depth to the characters, hindering emotional investment in their success. Daniel Kunka’s screenplay provides little compelling dialogue, and the special effects appear detached from reality, resembling a video game. The convoluted plot, involving Interpol, a terrorist group, and Jean Reno, adds to the overall hollowness of the film. Despite attempts to inject variety with aerial shots of European destinations, “Lift” falls into the trap of generic action, relying on zippy editing tricks and repetitive airplane fistfights. It may serve as mindless entertainment during a flight, but it lacks the substance to leave a lasting impression in the crowded action genre. Visit afdah for more!
