“It Lives Inside” is a supernatural horror thriller directed by Bishal Dutta, making their feature debut. The story revolves around Sam, an Indian-American teenager struggling with her heritage while unintentionally releasing a demon that feeds on her former best friend’s loneliness. To conquer it, she must reconnect with her roots. Although the film boasts an intriguing premise, it falls short of expectations, feeling somewhat formulaic and safe for a horror thriller. Despite this, it remains watchable and entertaining, primarily due to a compelling performance by Suri as Sam. Bajwa and Gabriel deliver strong supporting roles, and Dutta successfully creates an eerie atmosphere filled with dread and tension.
