Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth and final film of the Insidious franchise, acts as a sequel to Insidious: Chapter 2 and concludes the story of the Lambert family. Josh and Dalton Lambert, haunted by their previous encounters with the supernatural, must confront their demons and unravel the truth behind their erased memories. While the film delivers some decent scares and a cohesive storyline, it falls short in execution and fails to fully explore the potential of its characters. Patrick Wilson, in his feature directorial debut, does a serviceable job but is hindered by a lackluster script. The horror elements are effective enough to elicit jumps from the audience, but overall, the film remains tame and doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The performances, particularly by Simpkins and Wilson, are solid but leave the desire for more depth. Despite its shortcomings, Insidious: The Red Door serves as an acceptable ending for the franchise, although it misses the opportunity to be truly exceptional. Visit afdah movie for more!
