Five people awaken from their cryo chambers. Something is wrong. They cannot see their faces or ask about their sleep. They can recall that they were part of an experiment but cannot remember their roles. They can’t even remember their names.
They quickly discover that The Inventor (Michael Flynn The Appearance Small Town Crime) is not to be found. They are sealed behind an airlock for some unknown reason.
Director Barrett Burgin and Mason D. Davis, who are making their debut in these roles, deserve credit for their ingenuity. They have taken a plot that usually takes place on a spaceship and created a way to put it in what looks like an office basement. This eliminates the need for expensive sets and effects.
Cryo quickly becomes stale, and the characters wander in search of clues or ways out. The characters split up, so there is no dialogue and endless shots of different rooms. It is alarming how quickly characters make religious references and hallucinate listening to someone preach. Cryo is another movie that lasts two hours, and I didn’t like being preached for so long.
